The unit utilizes an Intel Pentium M processor with a Front Side Bus (FSB) speed of 400 MHz and a maximum CPU frequency of up to 2.0 GHz. This system controller delivers reliable computing power and optimized performance for PXI-based test and measurement systems.
The ADLINK PXI-3800/PM18+ features two 200-pin DDR SO-DIMM sockets that support up to 2 GB of system memory. It includes a built-in 2.5-inch low-profile 40 GB hard disk drive connected through a 44-pin EIDE primary IDE interface. The controller also provides two CompactFlash interfaces for HDD and FDD replacement with CF2 supporting hot-swappable card functionality for increased flexibility in data storage.
The PXI-3800/PM18+ provides a wide range of connectivity options that are crucial for smooth industrial system integration. It is equipped with two USB 2.0 ports for peripheral connections, two serial ports supporting RS-232/422/485 communication standards and one parallel port for reliable legacy device interfacing. The controller also features an AC97 stereo audio output designed for applications that require sound feedback, audio measurement or testing functions.
The TRIG I/O port is positioned on the front panel of the PXI-3800/PM18+ controller to support advanced PXI trigger operations and synchronization across connected modules. The controller module ensures high-quality visual output through its VGA interface which supports resolutions of up to 2048 x 1536 pixels.
The networking performance in the controller is enhanced by the integrated Intel 82545EM Gigabit Ethernet controller which supports 10/100/1000 Mbps connectivity. It operates consistently within a temperature range of 0°C to 50°C by maintaining stability during extended industrial operations.
The system controller PXI-3800/PM18+ supports up to seven bus-master PCI devices on the PXI/CompactPCI backplane. The inclusion of a programmable watchdog timer further enhances reliability by continuously monitoring system activity and initiating automatic recovery in the event of software malfunctions or system failures.
